SatPay Card Overview

SatPay Card is a Bitcoin debit card product inside a neobank app on the Core blockchain. It suits long-term BTC holders who want money for daily purchases without selling Bitcoin and accept the cost of a loan. Access is through a waitlist, so it is a poor choice if you need a card today.

You put BTC or CORE into supported yield strategies, then borrow stablecoins against that collateral to fund a virtual or physical debit card. You pay merchants through normal card networks. The difference is how you fund purchases: you borrow against your holdings rather than sell Bitcoin at checkout. Yield may offset loan interest, but repayment is not automatic or guaranteed. If collateral falls in value, you may face liquidation.

SatPay has not published a full consumer fee schedule or a confirmed cashback rate. Check borrowing costs and card charges before you commit, and confirm country eligibility in the app. Public materials do not clearly establish custody arrangements for every deposit route. For Bitcoin holders, the borrowing model is the main draw; I would wait for clear fees and custody terms before committing funds.

SatPay Card Key features

  • Bitcoin-backed spending

You borrow stablecoins against Bitcoin to fund card payments without selling your BTC. You pay interest at an unpublished rate and risk liquidation if your collateral falls too far in value.

  • BTC and CORE yield

You can earn yield on BTC and CORE through Core staking and other strategies. Check live rates and custody terms in the app before you deposit.

  • Yield toward repayment

You can use collateral yield to offset loan interest. Your debt can shrink when yield exceeds interest, but you should not count on automatic repayment.

  • Virtual debit card

Mobilum issues the virtual card after identity checks, with access currently through invites and a waitlist. Once provisioned, you can pay online or add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay.

  • Physical debit card

You can order a physical card after approval and use it at ordinary card terminals. ATM withdrawals depend on regional support, and SatPay has not published ATM or card issuance fees.

  • Loan health checks

You can check your loan's health in the app before you spend more. SatPay shows a 25% loan-to-value example in its marketing, rather than a confirmed borrowing limit.

  • In-app transfers

You can send and receive BTC, CORE and stablecoins within the app's supported Core routes. You can also swap assets, though you may pay a spread.

  • Core network activity

You use Core for staking and loan repayments. SatPay does not advertise broad multichain deposit support, so check the supported route before you transfer funds.

  • Referral rewards

You can earn referral rewards when people you invite become active users. SatPay has not published a reward rate in the supplied material.

SatPay Card Fees

  • Fees Fees are not published; check the official site for current rates.

How to use SatPay Card

  1. Join the waitlist

Go to satpay.app and join the waitlist with the email you plan to use for identity verification. Wait for an invite before you proceed.

  2. Verify your identity

After you receive an invite, open the official app or web flow linked from satpay.app. Complete Mobilum's identity checks with a valid identity document.

  3. Deposit your collateral

Send a small test deposit of BTC or CORE through the supported Core route shown in the app before transferring more. Before you enable earn, check who holds the vault keys and when you can withdraw.

  4. Borrow stablecoins

Read the loan costs and liquidation rules in the app, since SatPay has no public consumer fee schedule. Set a borrow limit well below the maximum and draw only the stablecoins you need for planned purchases.

  5. Get your virtual card

Request the virtual card in the app after KYC approval. Use the borrowed stablecoins to fund the card.

  6. Make a small payment

Use your virtual card for a small online purchase first. You can also add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay once provisioned.

But their app is working perfectly 😒 deposit and withdraw are smooth on SatPay

Successfully topped up USDC from MEXC to SatPay. The transfer was smooth, arrived without issues and the funds were available in my SatPay account shortly after. A simple experience from start to finish.

With the USDC safely in SatPay, everything looked ready to go. The deposit reflected correctly, and I was excited to explore the app's features and continue with the next step.

⚠️ I tried swapping my USDC, but unfortunately the swap wasn't successful. The transaction didn't go through, so I wasn't able to complete the exchange. Hopefully this gets resolved soon, as the top up process itself worked perfectly.

For reference, I'm using a vivo Y35 running Android 14 (Funtouch OS 14) with a Snapdragon 680, 8GB + 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage. I'm not sure if the unsuccessful swap is related to device compatibility, the app or another issue or maybe i miss a step but sharing my setup in case it helps with troubleshooting. Hopefully a future update resolves it.

Kindly teach me how to do it, comment below. 👇

SatPay Card Review

Pros

  • You can borrow stablecoins against BTC to fund card spending without selling your Bitcoin.
  • You can earn yield on your collateral to help offset loan interest.
  • Approved users can choose a virtual or physical debit card.
  • You can pay through Apple Pay or Google Pay once your virtual card is provisioned.
  • You can check your loan risk in the app's health meter.

Cons

  • You need a waitlist invite before you can get the card.
  • SatPay has not published a consumer fee schedule.
  • You can lose Bitcoin collateral to liquidation if its price falls too far.
  • You owe loan interest even when your Bitcoin yield falls short.
  • You must use Core for borrowing and repayments.
  • SatPay has not published a confirmed country list for card access.
  • Mobilum can freeze card access after identity or compliance checks.

Our verdict

I wouldn't carry SatPay Card yet. Only Bitcoin holders comfortable with liquidation risk should consider the waitlist. SatPay hasn't published all-in costs: swap spreads plus borrowing and card fees. I can't weigh cashback against those unknown costs. I'd reconsider once SatPay publishes competitive pricing and clear custody terms.

Is SatPay Card safe & legit?

SatPay looks legitimate: publicly traded Mobilum, founded by Wojciech Kaszycki, issues the card, and Core Foundation supports the project. The team has not clearly published whether the card balance is custodial or self-custody. I would be cautious about the unpublished fees and limited testing history; borrowers also risk losing Bitcoin collateral through liquidation if its price falls.
