El Dorado Card Overview

The El Dorado Card is a virtual USD prepaid Visa inside the El Dorado SuperApp, built for residents of supported Latin American countries. US residents cannot apply. Freelancers paid in digital dollars and people who pay for subscriptions or software in USD are a good fit. Check card availability in your country before you fund the app.

You fund your app balance with USDT on Arbitrum or Tron, or through a US dollar account. You can also buy USDT with local currency through the in-app P2P market. Then move funds onto the card and spend from its prepaid dollar balance. Pay online with the card details, or add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay to tap at compatible Visa terminals. No physical card is advertised.

El Dorado advertises zero maintenance fees and no extra charges on USD-priced purchases. Funding can still cost money: receiving ACH or wire transfers into the dollar account costs 1.49%, while P2P costs vary. The full card fee schedule and a cashback rate are not published in the supplied material.

The main difference is access to Visa spending alongside local QR payments and P2P in one app. For existing El Dorado users, that is useful. Compare the total funding cost with your local dollar card before you switch.

El Dorado Card Key features

  • Virtual prepaid Visa

Lead Bank issues a USD prepaid Visa in your name after identity verification. You get the card inside the El Dorado SuperApp; no physical card is advertised.

  • USD purchase pricing

You spend from a dollar balance. El Dorado advertises no extra charges on USD-priced purchases, but does not publish a complete fee table for foreign currency spending.

  • Phone wallet payments

You can add the virtual card to Apple Pay or Google Pay. Use your phone to tap at Visa merchants that accept contactless payments, or pay online with your card details.

  • USDT funding

You can fund your El Dorado balance with USDT on Arbitrum or Tron, then move funds onto the card. Check the network and deposit address in the app before you transfer.

  • Local currency funding

You can buy USDT with local currency through the in-app P2P market, then fund the card from your El Dorado balance. P2P rates and payment method fees vary, so check the total cost before you buy.

  • No advertised maintenance

El Dorado advertises a 0% maintenance fee. The company has not fully published issuance or per-purchase fees, and the cardholder agreement says fees may apply.

  • Named dollar account

You can open a virtual US dollar account in your name through Lead Bank and Bridge, then use those funds for your El Dorado balance. Account opening costs $0; receiving ACH or wire transfers costs 1.49%.

  • LATAM resident access

Residents of supported Latin American countries can apply if they are at least 18 and pass identity verification. US residents cannot apply; confirm card availability in your country inside the app.

    Consumer Stablecoin Card Review 01:
    @eldoradoio

El Dorado is a stablecoin payment app focused on the Latin American market.

Its core advantage goes far beyond issuing another Visa stablecoin card. It connects USDT with local instant-payment and wallet networks such as Pix, Yape, and Nequi.

That is El Dorado's real moat.

El Dorado Card Review

Pros

  • You can pay USD-priced bills from a dollar balance without a local currency conversion.
  • You can pay in stores with Apple Pay or Google Pay.
  • You can fund your app balance with USDT on Arbitrum or Tron before loading the card.
  • You can use local currency to fund your balance through the app's P2P market.
  • El Dorado advertises no card maintenance fee.
  • You can pay online wherever merchants accept Visa prepaid cards.

Cons

  • El Dorado does not advertise a physical card, so in-store payments depend on a phone wallet.
  • El Dorado has not published a complete card fee table.
  • You pay 1.49 percent to receive ACH or wire transfers into the linked dollar account.
  • You may pay variable P2P spreads and payment method fees to fund your balance.
  • You must move funds through your El Dorado balance before loading the card.
  • You rely on El Dorado and its card partners to hold and manage your spending funds.
  • US residents cannot get the card.

Our verdict

I'd carry El Dorado Card as an eligible LATAM user already holding USDT. Funding costs include variable P2P spreads or 1.49% incoming ACH fees, depending on method. El Dorado hasn't published full card fees or a cashback rate. I'd keep balances small and assume no bank insurance. I'd reconsider if funding plus card fees exceeded my local dollar card's costs.

El Dorado funding

  • Founded by Guillermo Goncalvez is a Venezuelan founder and CEO of El Dorado, with Juan Andreu and Carlos Fontes named as early team members.
  • Seed - May 2024 El Dorado raised about $3 million in a seed round led by Multicoin Capital, with Coinbase Ventures and Berkeley SkyDeck participating.
  • Series A - Jun 2026 El Dorado announced a $9 million Series A on 15 June 2026, led by Paradigm, with Coinbase Ventures and Verda Ventures participating.

Is El Dorado Card safe & legit?

El Dorado Card appears legitimate: Lead Bank issues the Visa, Bridge Ventures LLC runs the program, and El Dorado Labs PY INC runs the app. Founder and CEO Guillermo Goncalvez built El Dorado with an early team that included Juan Andreu and Carlos Fontes; major backers include Multicoin Capital and Coinbase Ventures. Your balance is custodial, so you depend on the providers for access to funds; they have not published full card fees, and you should not assume FDIC insurance.

🇨🇳 Trade between China and Latin America has grown more than 37x since 2000. Today it's worth close to US$600 billion a year.
And yet, in 2026, it's still hard for a Latin American company to pay a supplier on the other side of the world.
That's a big part of what we're building at @eldoradoio
🇻🇪 Back in 2013 I was mining Bitcoin in Caracas. I was 19, endlessly curious, wanted to make money, and had zero sophisticated thesis about the future of money.
Thirteen years later, we understand a whole lot better what this tech is actually good for.
El Dorado started out helping people move money across borders. Today we're in 12 markets, and we're bringing that same infrastructure to companies, importers and treasury teams that need to operate globally.
What started with Bitcoin turned into something much bigger: using stablecoins to make money move at the speed of trade.
Look around you and you'll probably spot something made in China. Behind that product was a Latin American importer who had to get dollars, pay a supplier, move money across borders, and deal with a financial system that still has way too much friction.
We want to make all of that simple.
Our ambition is for El Dorado to become the international payments infrastructure for Latin American companies and to help speed up our region's trade with the rest of the world.
We raised a Series A led by @paradigm, we're part of @EndeavorArg's ScaleUp program, and we've got an incredible team building from Latin America.
But it feels like we're only just starting to show what we're capable of.
🙌 Thanks to Forbes for telling our story. And thanks to the whole team, our investors and our customers who've had our backs since day one.
Straight outta LATAM. On to the next 🌎
