Payy Card Overview

Payy Card is a Visa card linked to Payy Wallet. It lets you spend USDC from a self-custody wallet. Payy Network uses private notes and zero-knowledge proofs, so public blockchain data should not link a Visa purchase to your wallet balance or spending amount. Visa and the card issuer still receive the normal payment and KYC information.

The card suits people who already hold USDC and want to pay at Visa merchants without exposing their spending history on a public blockchain. It is less suitable for users who want cashback, a long operating history, or a guaranteed physical card. Cashback rates are not published, and Payy Points are rewards for holding funds or referrals, not cashback.

To fund the card, you send USDC, or a supported stablecoin that swaps into USDC, from a supported network such as Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Optimism, or Arbitrum, where available. Source-chain gas and bridge costs may apply. Spending uses the USDC balance in Payy Wallet, so it does not rely on a revolving credit line or a credit check. You can use the virtual card online or add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Payy lists no application fee, monthly fee, or USD spending fee. A foreign exchange charge of about 1% appears in published descriptions, but check the current terms before ordering. ATM fees, replacement fees, inactivity fees, and some funding costs are not clearly published.

The main difference is private crypto card spending with self custody. Public chain users cannot normally reconstruct the card purchase from the wallet history. The tradeoff is a young product with limited rewards and uncertain card availability. Reports said the Visa program was ending in some regions, so confirm that the app still issues cards and supports your country before moving funds.

Payy Card Key features

  • Private USDC spending

The card spends USDC from private UTXO notes on Payy Network. Zero-knowledge proofs help prevent public explorers from linking a Visa purchase to your wallet balance or purchase amount.

  • Self-custody wallet

Your funds stay in the Payy Wallet until you spend them. You control the wallet keys, but losing the recovery material can mean losing access to the funds.

  • Virtual Visa card

After identity verification, Payy provides virtual Visa card details in the app. You can use the details for online checkout or add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay.

  • No credit check

Approval is based on identity verification rather than a credit check. Spending is limited by the USDC loaded in the wallet.

  • USD fee-free spending

Payy lists no application fee, monthly fee, top-up fee, or Payy transaction fee for USD spending. Source-chain gas, partner spreads, and other third-party charges can still apply.

  • Foreign exchange fee

Published descriptions put the foreign currency charge at about 1 percent on top of the Visa exchange rate.

  • Payy Points

Published descriptions say users earn about one point per dollar held per day, plus referral points. Points are not cashback and were used to unlock the physical card.

  • App card freeze

You can freeze the card in the app if you lose a device or card.

  • Visa merchant payments

The card is designed for Visa merchant payments, including online purchases and mobile-wallet payments. Some merchants, hotels, car rentals, fuel stations, and foreign merchants may reject prepaid-style authorizations or US-issued card numbers.

  • Contactless physical card

Payy has described a contactless physical card with no chip or magnetic stripe. Physical supply was limited and later listed as sold out, so availability is uncertain.

  • Contactless ATM beta

Payy documents mention contactless ATM access in private beta. A public ATM fee table is not published.

  • Supported deposit networks

Published materials list Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Optimism, and Arbitrum for deposits involving supported stablecoins such as USDC, USDT, and USDC.e. Routes can change, so the live deposit screen is the current reference.

  • Card KYC required

Identity verification is required for the card and regulated fiat deposit routes. Crypto sending and receiving on Payy Network can work without card KYC.

  • Withdrawable USDC

Users can withdraw remaining USDC on chain if they stop using the card. Card availability may change separately from access to wallet keys and crypto withdrawals.

Payy Card Fees

  • Application fee No Payy application fee is listed.
  • Monthly fee No monthly card fee is listed.
  • USD transaction fee No Payy transaction fee is listed for USD spending.
  • Top-up fee No Payy top-up fee is listed, but source-chain gas still applies.
  • Foreign currency fee Foreign currency spending costs about 1 percent on top of the Visa rate.

How to use Payy Card

  1. Check card availability

Open the official Payy app and docs to confirm that Payy Card is still issuing in your region. User reports say the Visa program may have ended in some regions.

  2. Create your wallet

Download Payy Wallet from the official site, create a wallet, and store the recovery material offline. Payy Wallet uses self custody, so losing the keys can mean losing access to the funds.

  3. Verify your identity

Complete KYC in the app to apply for the card. KYC is required for Payy Card and for regulated fiat deposit routes.

  4. Receive and fund the card

Open the card section after approval to get the virtual Visa details. Deposit USDC, or a supported stablecoin that swaps into USDC, from Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Optimism, or Arbitrum, then confirm the balance after the transfer or bridge completes.

  5. Make the first payment

Use the virtual card number for an online checkout, or add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay and tap at a Visa merchant. Check your wallet after authorization to confirm the USDC debit.

Payy Card Review

Pros

  • Card spending uses private Payy Network notes, which can stop public explorers from linking purchases to your wallet balance.
  • You keep control of USDC in your Payy Wallet until you spend it.
  • The card has no listed application fee or monthly fee.
  • The card has no listed Payy fee for USD spending.
  • The virtual Visa card is issued in the app after identity verification.
  • The card does not require a credit check.
  • You can freeze the card in the app if you lose your device or card details.

Cons

  • The card has no published cashback, so it may cost more than a rewards card for everyday spending.
  • Foreign currency purchases carry about a 1 percent fee.
  • The physical card is contactless only, with no chip or magstripe, and supply is uncertain.
  • The Visa program may have ended in some regions, so card availability needs checking before you apply.
  • The issuer behind the Visa card is not named in the consumer documents.
  • Bridge fees, source-chain gas, ATM charges, and ramp spreads can still apply.
  • Self custody means lost recovery keys can result in lost funds.
  • The young network and its bridges carry upgrade, prover, and smart contract risks.

Our verdict

Payy Card is worth carrying for privacy-focused USDC holders, if the card still works. Self-custody and private settlement matter more here than cashback. The real cost includes about 1% foreign exchange, network gas, ramp spreads, and no rewards. I would change my mind after stable card availability, clearer issuer details, and published fees.

Payy funding

  • Founded by Polybase Labs was founded by Sid Gandhi, CEO and former Apple iOS engineer, and Calum Moore, CTO.
  • Seed - Mar 2026 Payy raised $6 million in a seed round led by FirstMark Capital, with participation from Robot Ventures and DBA Crypto.
  • Pre-seed - date not published Payy raised $2 million in pre-seed funding under the Polybase name, but the raw data does not name a lead investor.

Is Payy Card safe & legit?

Payy Card appears legitimate and is built by Polybase Labs, led by founders Sid Gandhi and Calum Moore, with backing from FirstMark Capital, Robot Ventures, DBA Crypto, 6th Man Ventures, Orange DAO, and Protocol Labs. Your USDC stays in self-custody, so lost keys can mean lost funds, while the Visa issuer is not named in the consumer documents. Known risks include bridge and network failures, an unclear card issuer, and reports that Visa service may have ended in some regions; no widely reported consumer-wallet hack is named in the provided data.

Cool solution from @payy_link for stablecoin refunds. Having a third-party provide insurance is a much more elegant way to protect payments than credit card chargebacks, which oddly impose the cost on the recipient and are rife with fraud.
One quick correction to the video however: given Tempo's current architecture it's trivially easy to reverse every stablecoin payment. (looking forward to when that changes)
