Kast card Overview

The KAST Card is a Visa card linked to a USD account inside the KAST app. You load stablecoins like USDC, USDT, USDe, PYUSD, or RLUSD, the app turns that balance into dollars, and you pay wherever Visa is taken. It is a prepaid card. There is no credit line and no interest on what you spend. You spend only what you load.

The card solves one problem. Plenty of people get paid in stablecoins or hold savings in them, then hit a wall the moment they need to pay rent, buy groceries, or book a flight. Cashing out through an exchange takes time and often costs a spread. KAST skips that step and lets the balance work at a normal checkout.

This card fits freelancers and remote workers paid in stablecoins who don't want a bank sitting in the middle. It also fits people in countries where opening a US or EU style bank account is hard, but Visa terminals are common. Travelers get a card that works with Apple Pay and Google Pay plus plastic backup in over 170 countries. Solana, Ethereum, and multi-chain users already holding USDC or USDT can convert into spendable USD at 1:1 with no deposit spread. It fits less well if you want full self-custody of every dollar, if most of your spending happens in a currency far from USD, or if you plan to treat the app as a long-term savings vault instead of a spending account.

Funding works through crypto deposits. You open Receive in the app, pick the exact token and network, and send it. Stablecoin deposits post to your USD balance at par. Send BTC, ETH, SOL, or other supported tokens and KAST converts them to USD, showing the rate before you confirm. Fiat funding through bank transfer is available in supported regions, with fees shown before you send. Getting the network wrong, say sending USDC on Ethereum when the app expects Solana, is the easiest way to lose money here. Match the token and the chain every time.

Spending happens off the same USD balance no matter which card design you carry. A virtual Visa card appears right after identity checks clear, and you can add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay immediately. A physical card ships for a flat fee. Three paid tiers, Standard, Premium, and Private, set your cashback rate and monthly cap: Standard is free with 1.5 percent USD cashback up to $2,000 in monthly spend, Premium runs $1,000 a year with 2 percent cashback up to $10,000 plus 1 percent in KAST Points, and Private runs $10,000 a year with 3 percent cashback on a higher cap plus 2 percent in points. Cashback pays out in USD you can actually spend, not points locked in a catalog, though KAST Points themselves have been rewritten more than once, so I'd treat them as a bonus rather than money in hand.

What sets KAST apart from a typical crypto card is the chain coverage and the fee structure. Stablecoin top-ups cost 0 percent from KAST, card spend in USD costs 0 percent, and wallet payments through Apple Pay or Google Pay cost 0 percent too. Where it gets less generous is foreign exchange on non-USD purchases, which runs in a published band, and ATM withdrawals, which carry a flat fee plus a percentage. None of that is hidden, the app shows the fee before you confirm a transaction, and that transparency is worth something on its own.

One honest caveat: this is a spending account, not a savings account. Your balance sits with KAST and its partners, not in a wallet you control. For paying bills and covering travel while you hold stablecoins, it does the job it says it does. For parking savings you never want to touch, look elsewhere.

Kast card Key features

  • Prepaid USD spending

KAST loads a USD account inside the app and you spend only what you load. There is no credit line and no interest charge, so you can't overspend the balance.

  • 1:1 stablecoin funding

USDC, USDT, USDe, PYUSD, and RLUSD convert to your USD balance at par, with 0 percent KAST spread. You still pay network gas on the sending chain.

  • Crypto conversion on deposit

BTC, ETH, SOL, and other tokens convert to USD when you deposit them, and the app shows the rate before you confirm. Reviews note volatile tokens can carry a few percent conversion cost.

  • Instant virtual card

Once identity checks clear, a virtual Visa number appears in the app and works right away. Add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay to spend before any plastic arrives.

  • Physical card option

Standard plastic has no card fee, just a $40 shipping charge. Premium and Private tiers include metal or plated cards built into the membership price.

  • Global Visa acceptance

KAST cites over 150 million merchants across more than 170 countries. The card works anywhere Visa is accepted, in store or online, subject to local program rules.

  • Apple Pay and Google Pay

Wallet payments carry a 0 percent KAST fee, and the merchant only sees a tokenized number, not your card details.

  • Tiered USD cashback

Standard pays 1.5 percent cashback on the first $2,000 of monthly eligible spend. Premium pays 2 percent up to $10,000, and Private pays 3 percent on a higher cap, all paid in spendable USD rather than points.

  • KAST Points on paid tiers

Premium adds 1 percent in KAST Points on eligible spend and Private adds 2 percent. Point programs have changed before, so treat them as a bonus, not guaranteed value.

  • In app spending controls

You can freeze or unfreeze the card, reset a PIN, and set limits directly in the app, synced to your USD or EUR style account.

  • ATM cash withdrawals

Visa ATM withdrawals cost $3 flat plus 2 percent of the amount, with FX added on non USD machines. Published limits are $250 per withdrawal, up to three withdrawals or $750 in 24 hours.

  • Fiat funding rails

Users in supported regions can load the account through bank transfer, ACH style details, or SEPA style details. Fees show in the app before you send.

  • Free peer transfers

Sending to another KAST user by tag, email, or phone carries no KAST fee, inside the published daily caps.

  • Broad chain support

Stablecoin receive covers networks like Solana, Ethereum, Tron, Polygon, Base, and more depending on the token. Send networks are narrower, for example USDC only sends on Solana, Ethereum, and Arbitrum, so you have to match the network on both ends.

  • Optional yield products

KAST offers a Prime Vault targeting treasury backed yield in the low single digits, a Gauntlet Alpha Vault with higher variable DeFi risk, and a promotional Reserve balance paying 6 to 12 percent by tier. Reserve rates are marketing funded and scheduled to step down after an introductory window or a $100 million cap.

  • Three membership tiers

Standard is free, Premium costs $1,000 a year, and Private costs $10,000 a year. Each tier raises the card design, cashback rate, and cashback cap.

  • Annual membership Standard costs $0 a year, Premium costs $1,000 a year, and Private costs $10,000 a year.
  • FX spread Spending in a non-USD currency carries a fee of 0.5 percent to 1.75 percent, depending on your country, the merchant's country, and the in-app quote.
  • ATM withdrawals Visa ATM cash-outs cost $3 flat plus 2 percent of the amount, with extra FX charges if the ATM is not in USD.
  • Card issuance A standard virtual card is free, an extra standard virtual card costs $2, and a standard physical card is free but ships for $40.

How to use Kast card

  1. Create your account

Download the KAST app from the official store listing, or go to kast.xyz, and sign up with your email and phone number.

  2. Verify your identity

Complete the ID check when the app asks for it. Current reviews describe a Sumsub ID scan plus a selfie, and you need this step to unlock full limits.

  3. Fund with stablecoins

Open Receive, choose the exact asset (USDC, USDT, USDe, PYUSD, or RLUSD) and the exact network shown on screen, then send a small test amount first. Supported stablecoins convert to your USD balance at 1:1 with no KAST spread, though you still pay gas on the sending chain.

  4. Match the network exactly

Double check that the network you send from matches the one KAST shows in the app. USDC on Solana is not USDC on Ethereum, and sending to the wrong network is the most common way people lose funds here.

  5. Issue your card

Open Cards and activate a virtual Visa number once your funds land. Add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay for 0 percent wallet fees, or order the free Standard plastic card if you want something physical (shipping runs $40).

  6. Make your first payment

Spend straight from your loaded USD balance at any merchant that takes Visa, in person or online. If a charge looks off, freeze the card from the app right away.

Kast card Review

Pros

  • Stablecoin deposits convert to your USD balance at 1:1 with 0 percent KAST spread, so USDC or USDT does not lose value on the way in.
  • The free Standard tier still pays 1.5 percent USD cashback on the first $2,000 spent each month.
  • Cashback lands as spendable USD, not points you have to redeem in a catalog.
  • A virtual Visa card is issued as soon as identity checks clear, so you can pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay before plastic arrives.
  • Wallet payments through Apple Pay and Google Pay carry a 0 percent KAST fee.
  • The card works at any of the 150 million plus Visa merchants across 170 plus countries KAST cites.
  • There is no monthly maintenance fee, and a standard physical card costs only $40 shipping instead of a card fee.
  • You can freeze the card, change the PIN, and set spend limits directly in the app if a charge looks wrong.
  • Being prepaid, the card cannot pull you into revolving debt or surprise interest charges.

Cons

  • Your spendable balance sits with KAST and its partners, not in your own wallet, so you become a claimant if a partner fails.
  • The digital asset ledger is not FDIC insured, even though some fiat rails route through an FDIC member bank.
  • FX on non USD purchases runs up to 1.75 percent, which can wipe out the 1.5 percent Standard cashback.
  • Premium costs $1,000 a year and Private costs $10,000 a year just to raise your cashback cap and card tier.
  • KAST Points programs have already changed more than once, so points can lose value or get rewritten.
  • ATM withdrawals cost $3 plus 2 percent, and non USD ATMs add FX on top.
  • Cashback often cannot leave the app as an external withdrawal, per user reports.
  • Some users report account freezes and slow support reviews after large deposits.

Our verdict

Kast is worth carrying if you already live in stablecoins and just need a way to pay rent or grab lunch without a bank in the middle. The free Standard tier is honest about its costs: 0% on USD spend, 1:1 on stablecoin loads, but FX on non-USD purchases runs up to 1.75%, which can wipe out your 1.5% cashback fast. ATMs sting too, at $3 plus 2%, so this is not a cash-machine card. I would carry it for travel and daily USD spend, not as a place to park savings, because the balance sits with Kast's partners, not in your own wallet. My mind would change if Kast published FDIC-style insurance on the spend balance or dropped that FX band closer to zero, until then, load only what you plan to spend this month.

Kast funding

  • Founded by KAST was co-founded by Raagulan Pathy, the former Circle vice president for Asia Pacific and CEO of Circle Singapore, and Daniel Bertoli, a former partner at Quona Capital.
  • Seed - Dec 2024 KAST raised $10 million in a seed round led by HSG (HongShan Capital Group) and Peak XV Partners, with participation from angels, DST Global partners, and Goodwater Capital.
  • Series A - Mar 2026 KAST raised $80 million in a Series A co-led by QED Investors and Left Lane Capital, with participation from Peak XV, HSG, and DST Global Partners.

Is Kast card safe & legit?

KAST is a real fintech, not an anonymous card mill. It was founded in July 2024 by Raagulan Pathy (ex-Circle) and Daniel Bertoli (ex-Quona Capital), and it has raised about $90 million from backers like Peak XV, HSG, QED Investors, and Left Lane Capital. But the balance is custodial: your funds sit with KAST's partners (issuer Third National, banking rails via Lead Bank and Bridge), not in your own wallet, and reviews confirm the digital asset ledger is not FDIC insured. The known risk isn't fraud, it's operational: users report account freezes and slow support after large deposits, so treat KAST as a spending account you top up for bills and travel, not a place to park savings.
