Pump Fun Overview
Pump.fun is an open Solana memecoin launchpad where anyone with a compatible wallet can create a token without code or approval. It suits creators who want a quick public launch and traders who buy newly launched coins. Teams that need custom tokenomics or vesting should look elsewhere.
Creators enter their token details and confirm a wallet transaction. Traders then buy and sell through a bonding curve: buys push the price up, while sells push it down. Creators buy on the same curve as everyone else, with no reserved team allocation on the standard launch path. Once a token reaches the graduation threshold, the protocol automatically moves liquidity to PumpSwap, a decentralized exchange.
Creators pay a listed platform creation fee of 0 SOL, plus network fees. Traders pay 1.25% per bonding curve trade, including a creator share. The listed graduation fee is 0.015 SOL; PumpSwap fees vary by pool and market cap. The main difference from presale launchpads is direct access: buyers use the public curve rather than compete for reserved allocations. That access does not prevent creators or early buyers from dumping tokens on later buyers.
Pump Fun Key features
-
Open coin creation
Anyone with a compatible wallet can launch a Solana memecoin through a short form, without writing a contract or seeking listing approval. The platform creation fee is 0 SOL, but users still pay network fees.
-
Standard launch supply
Standard launches have a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens, with about 800 million on the bonding curve. Creators buy on the same curve as other buyers, with no reserved team allocation or hidden presale.
-
Bonding curve trading
Users buy and sell against onchain reserves under a published price formula, without an order book or a pool they must fund themselves. The total bonding curve fee is 1.25% per trade.
-
Automatic PumpSwap migration
When a coin reaches the graduation threshold, the protocol moves its accumulated liquidity to PumpSwap automatically. The published graduation fee is 0.015 SOL, and traders then pay fees under the applicable PumpSwap schedule.
-
Burned liquidity tokens
The protocol burns the PumpSwap pool's LP tokens after graduation, so creators cannot withdraw that liquidity. Creators and early buyers can still dump their coins, so this does not remove rug-pull risk.
-
Creator trade fees
Creators receive 0.300% of each bonding curve trade through a creator vault, while their share after graduation varies by market cap tier. Creators can split fee income across multiple wallets in later versions of the program.
-
Coin page livestreams
Creators can broadcast live on a coin page while viewers trade. Creators earn fees from trade volume, including selloffs.
-
SOL and USDC pairs
Creators can pair new Solana coins with SOL or USDC. Users can pay trading fees in the quote asset.
-
Web and mobile access
Traders can find coins through live feeds and leaderboards on the web or official mobile app. Users pay no extra frontend platform fee on top of the published swap fees.
-
Optional holder rewards
Creators can use an optional program path to route fees to holders instead of a single creator. This setting is not the default for every coin.
Pump Fun Fees
-
Launch fee Creators pay 0 SOL or 0 USDC to launch a coin, plus the Solana network fee.
-
Graduation fee The fee for graduation to PumpSwap is 0.015 SOL.
-
Bonding curve fee Traders pay 1.25% per trade on the bonding curve, with 0.300% for the creator and 0.95% for the protocol.
-
Graduated pool fees For canonical graduated PumpSwap pools paired with SOL, traders pay tiered total fees that start near 1.25% for small caps and decrease as market cap rises.
-
Other pool fees Traders in non-canonical PumpSwap pools pay around 0.3% total under the published schedule.

Creator fees on @pumpfun work VERY well.

These fees allowed me (and many others) to bootstrap a business from day 0 with onchain capital directly derived from supporters of their project.
Memes benefit from cashback. Builders benefit from creator fees.
This is a great update. -

i'm not keeping it, it goes back to solana:9cRCn9rGT8V2imeM2BaKs13yhMEais3ruM3rPvTGpump holders
and protocols that want my attention can market to the holders instead. incentivize them, airdrop them -
Always remember this. Never forget it.

the pump fun crowd handed me 80k in creator fees. they weren't doing me a favor. they were setting up an exit. the play was simple. i produce a god candle, they sell into it, i get called a hero for three days, and they walk away with profits funded by everyone who bought the pump. that's the trade they were offering. hero status in exchange for being their exit liquidity machine.
i didn't take it.
Pump Fun Review
Pros
- Anyone with a compatible wallet can launch a Solana coin without writing a contract.
- Creators pay no platform fee to launch a coin, though network fees still apply.
- Creators and other buyers use the same published bonding curve, with no reserved team allocation.
- Creators can start trading without funding a liquidity pool themselves.
- Creators get automatic liquidity migration to PumpSwap when their coin reaches the graduation threshold.
- The protocol burns LP tokens after graduation, so creators cannot withdraw that pool's liquidity.
- Creators can earn a share of trading fees without selling their tokens.
Cons
- Traders pay a 1.25% fee on each bonding curve trade, plus network costs.
- Most coins never reach the threshold for migration to PumpSwap.
- Creators and early buyers can dump their tokens even after the pool's LP tokens are burned.
- Traders compete with bots and snipers in the first seconds of a launch.
- Creators earn fees when traders sell, so they can profit during a dump.
- Users bear losses from bad trades and wallet mistakes without a refund path.
Our verdict
I'd recommend Pump.fun's open launchpad for experienced memecoin creators. Traders pay 1.25% per bonding curve trade plus network fees. Creators pay network fees; graduation to PumpSwap costs 0.015 SOL. Slippage adds costs, and creator dumps can leave buyers with worthless tokens. I'd recommend broader use only after seeing fewer scams and lower buyer losses.
Is Pump Fun safe & legit?
Pump.fun is a legitimate open token launchpad run by Baton Corporation Ltd, founded by Noah Tweedale, Alon Cohen and Dylan Kerler. Many crypto traders use it, but that does not mean you can trust the tokens people launch there. Buyers face scams and creator dumps, while the company has faced a UK regulator warning and civil claims over alleged unregistered securities activity.

I respect the pump in all assets. why? because it’s kind of like karma, you know. the power of the pump always comes back to you if you respect the pump of other people. it’s crazy but I have this belief that whatever pumps you have to pay respect because otherwise if you’re like “oh my god this scam coin is pumping again!” actually you are kind of rejecting the pump from your life. we all gotta believe in something and I do believe in the power of the pump it’s kind of like let the pump be with you.- 589 replies
